Event description

The Depression over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area has moved west-southwestwards and lies over the same area (17.9°N, 86.4°E). It was located at 06 AM today (22 September 2026) about 768 km southwest of Chattogram, 735 km southwest of Cox's Bazar, 620 km south-southwest of Mongla and 630 km south-southwest of Payra seaport. It is likely to move further west-southwestwards and intensify into a Deep Depression within next 12 hours. Under its influence, Maritime Ports, North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh may experience squally weather. Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 km of the depression center is about 40 km/h, rising to 50 km/h in gusts or squalls. Sea is rough near the depression center.

Instructions

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three (3). All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
