High Landslide Risk Warning for Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari - 09-11 July 2026

Due to the Well-Marked Low persisting over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas in India and the strong monsoon active over North Bay, the districts of Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Chattogram, Rangamati and Khagrachari may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from 09 July to 11 July 2026. Accumulated rainfall is expected to range from 200 to 500 mm over these districts. Last 24 hours observed rainfall: Chattogram (Ambagan) 277 mm, Bandarban 210 mm, Rangamati 165 mm, Cox's Bazar 103 mm.High Landslide Risk Areas: Teknaf, Ukhiya and Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila in Cox's Bazar; Wards No. 7, 8, 9, 14 of Chattogram City Corporation and Banshkhali Upazila in Chattogram; Naikhongchhari, Lama and Bandarban Sadar Upazila in Bandarban; Rangamati and Khagrachari districts.
Immediately evacuate from hilly slopes or high-risk areas to designated shelters. Prioritize elderly, children, disabled individuals and pregnant women. Take dry food, clean water, essential medicines and important documents. Be aware that flash floods may occur alongside landslides - avoid staying near rivers or streams. Keep phone charged. Follow instructions of local administration and disaster management committee.
